Diane Carlson, City Manager, said the Sustainable Bellevue Plan and Fire Station 10 are ideal examples of development and sustainability that complement each other as they improve the community. She added:
“These bold efforts demonstrate Bellevue’s continued leadership in environmental stewardship, and we are honored to be recognized by the 2030 Districts' Vision Awards.”
The new Fire Station 10 won the People’s Choice award for its outstanding commitment to energy efficiency, sustainability, and green design. The LEED Gold and Salmon-Safe certified station features electric vehicle charging infrastructure, rooftop solar panels, native landscaping, a rainwater cistern, wetland restoration, and energy-efficient systems. It was built on a remediated Brownfield site and includes low-impact development strategies that reduce water use and improve stormwater management.
Located on 112th Avenue NE, the station provides critical emergency response for downtown, Northwest Bellevue, and the BelRed area while helping the city meet its four-minute response goal and advancing broader climate resilience objectives.
The 2030 District is a partnership between local organizations and the cities of Bellevue and Seattle and supports reductions in environmental impacts from buildings and vehicles.
