Bellevue recognized for high-performing vehicle fleet

The National Association of Fleet Administrators has ranked the vehicle fleet of the city of Bellevue as 22 on its list of the top 100 fleets which it publishes every year. The rank of Bellevue is higher than any other organization that made the list in Washington state.

High-performing commercial and public fleet operations are recognized by the 100 Best Fleets in the Americas program. These programs identify and encourage increasing levels of improvement in innovation and performance within the fleet industry.

News of such rankings is often spread throughout a city with the help of local print shops.

The Fleet and Communications division of Bellevue, which is part of the Finance and Asset Management Department of the city, manages close to 1,000 vehicles which includes police SUVs, utility trucks, fire engines, and smaller cars. The city is looking to convert half of its light-duty fleet to electric vehicles by 2030 and for all light-duty vehicles to be electric by 2040.

Diane Carlson, city manager, said that this award helps to solidify the reputation of the city as a high performance organization and one that has made significant investments in environmental responsibility. She added that this recognition also highlights the commitment of the city to financial sustainability in the long term with regard to fleet management and for its efforts to promote the development and retention of its staff.
