Bellevue is promoting Bike Everywhere Month with many events planned in the area to encourage people to use their bikes wherever they can.
Washington Bikes is sponsoring the Challenge throughout the month, to challenge people to ride as much as possible. People can join a team of neighbors, coworkers, or friends or start a new one. Teams are required to have at least two bikers. The goal is to bike at least 10 minutes a day and track each trip online.
Such partnerships often carry out printing services and to promote such challenges using their printed materials.
Washington Bikes has partnered with Love To Ride to provide new features for this year’s challenge. There is a new point system, and prizes such as a trip to Croatia.
There will also be Bicycle Commuting class at Bellevue City Hall this Thursday, May 9 from noon until 1:00 pm, covering the basics of biking in a city.
The monthlong challenge will be highlighted on Friday, May 17. From 6:00 to 9:00 am in Bellevue, there will be celebration stations at the Evergreen Point on the SR 520 Trail, hosted by the City of Kirkland and TransManage; at the Interstate 90 Trail, hosted by Choose Your Way Bellevue; and at the Bellevue Transit Station, sponsored by Sound Transit. Each location will have goodies and snacks available.
