Amazon is planning to expand its presence in Bellevue in the next few years in order to attract a larger labor pool.
The online retail company anticipates it will eventually have 15,000 people working in the city. This would increase the number of people employed by Amazon in the area sevenfold, and would be as many people as have worked in total at the top three employers in Bellevue at the end of 2018.
The company opened its first office building in Bellevue in 2017, and has 2,000 people already working in the city with currently more than 700 job openings. Many of these newly hired employees will most likely need business card printing services.
Mayor of Bellevue, Lynne Robinson, expressed her pleasure about Amazon’s increasing investment in the city, noting that these will be well-paying jobs that will benefit those working in the area and the entire community.
President of the Bellevue Downtown Association (BDA), Patrick Bannon, added that he is thrilled to see Amazon continue its growth in Bellevue. It demonstrates confidence in the talent base, the leadership of the city, and many years of planning for economic growth, he added, noting that all members of the BDA and the community are looking forward to welcoming those who will be working in Bellevue.
NBBJ, architects in Seattle, will be designing the new office tower.
