Bellevue-based OfferUp, in partnership with Miami’s Ironhack, will be offering a scholarship to underrepresented professionals who want to develop their careers in the technology industry, particularly women.
OfferUp is a marketplace of mobile apps for local buyers and sellers in the United States, while Ironhack is a tech school that has immersive and intensive nine-week courses in web development, data analytics, and user interface design.
The OfferUp Tech Career Empowerment Scholarship will provide $250,000 to enroll eligible students at an Ironhack facility. Vice president of community at OfferUp, Natalie Angelillo, said that the company’s vision is to enable students to prosper. She added that although the company has been able to build a community of sellers and buyers, it also needs to look at the greater community to help diversify the workforce and provide opportunities for those looking to get into or advance their careers in the technology industry. Printing services are often hired to provide more details about such scholarships and programs.
Ironhack provides live training that enables students to improve their digital skills such that, regardless of their previous experience, they can become web developers and designers of user interfaces. Graduates of their programs have found positions at such companies as Twitter, Facebook, and Google.
The first set of students will start their classes in January 2021.
