MacDonald-Miller Facility Solutions, a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) specialist, and the city of Bellevue have partnered to create a program for those who own large buildings in the city.
A new Commercial Clean Buildings Performance Standard in the state requires the majority of buildings with an area of 50,000 square feet or more meet clean energy standards within the next four years. Under the program, owners of these building will receive significant incentive payments when needed retrofits are made. This is the first city-led initiative in Washington to help building owners comply with this new regulation.
The environmental stewardship program manager for Bellevue, Jennifer Ewing, said that the larger buildings generate about a quarter of the greenhouse emissions in the city. Ewing added that supporting the owners of these buildings as part of the Sustainable Bellevue plan will help these building owners to save money, reduce their use of energy, and help the city become one of the Northwest’s most innovative business hubs.
The partnership with MacDonald-Miller is part of the city’s Clean Buildings Incentive Program and will enable building owners to learn more about the program, meet the terms of the new clean standards for buildings, save money, and reduce their energy use. Brochure printing is an ideal way to offer more details about such programs and educate such building owners about their benefits.
Property managers and building owners need to register by Thursday, March 31 to be part of MacDonald-Miller’s benchmarking process.
