Bellevue to host teen conference

The Youth Involvement Conference will be hosted by Bellevue Youth Link at City Hall later this month. This conference is open to all youth in Bellevue of middle and high school age who attend private, public, and other learning communities.

The conference has been hosted every two years by the city since the early 1990s and is designed to give teenagers in Bellevue an opportunity to identify priorities of young people in the community, learn leadership skills, and connect to volunteer opportunities.

The theme of the conference this year is “Foundations for Tomorrow: Youth Voices, Youth Futures.” Those who attend the conference will focus on food insecurity, homelessness, mental health, and engagement in the community. The conference will provide a continental breakfast and lunch, and students may earn six hours of community service for attending the conference.

Such conferences often rely on brochure printing to promote them throughout a city and offer more details on topics, resources, and options for networking.

Youth Link is a national partnership of the Bellevue Public Schools and the city of Bellevue that engages young people in community leadership. Youth Link has enabled adults and teenagers to collaborate to develop youth programs and projects that have included Bellevue Youth Court, Ground Zero Teen Center, and Bellevue Skate Park.

The conference will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday March 22.
