The final Bellevue Centers Communities of Color dialogue will be taking place later this month.
These dialogues enable the city to learn from members of the community how the city can be more inclusive and equitable. The last set of events of this kind were held over the summer in July and August.
The Centering Communities of Color Coordinating (CCC) Team is a diverse group of people who work and live in Bellevue and are dedicated to improving opportunities for all people in the community and advancing racial equity. This team is behind the Centering Communities of Color effort. The dialogue will be moderated by members of the team.
Ideas collected from the dialogue will be used by the CCC Team to create proposals for new policies in the city that will help communities grow and thrive in a more inclusive and equitable fashion. These policies will then be brought back to the community for further development and discussion for the creation of formal recommendations to the leaders of the city.
Poster printing is often used to inform residents of such dialogues and their benefits for the community.
The Bellevue Centers Communities of Color initiative was approved by the City Council in January 2021.
The upcoming session will be at Stevenson Elementary School on NE Eighth Street from 6:30pm to 9:30pm on Thursday, November 16. Dinner will be provided to all attendees.
