An amount of $6.6m has been allocated by the Washington state Legislature as part its supplemental transportation budget for 2023-2025 to construct another important part of the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trail in Bellevue. This segment runs between 150th Avenue Southeast and 142nd Place Southeast.
A connection free from motorized vehicles from Snoqualmie to Seattle – linking Mercer Island, Issaquah, Bellevue, and Preston between the two cities – will be provided by the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trail. The trail is part of the Mountains to Sound Greenway National Heritage Area.
Local printing services can be used to offer more details on such trails, their features, and amenities.
Lynne Robinson, mayor of Bellevue, expressed her gratitude about having strong partnerships between the Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust and the legislators, helping this next phase of the Greenway become a reality. She added that this funding will bring the city closer to a beautiful trail that will provide convenient, safe, and continuous access for people rolling and walking from the Cascade Mountains to Puget Sound.
The design costs for this trail section were covered by the Puget Sound Regional Council through the federal Transportation Alternatives Program. The Puget Sound Regional Council also received an additional $2.37 million in federal Surface Transportation Program funds to cover part of the costs of construction.
Construction is expected to begin in the second half of next year.
