Applications for block grants for non-construction capital development projects are currently being accepted by the city of Bellevue.
Among the projects eligible are rehabilitation of single-family homes; engineering, architectural, and other such costs; costs for acquisition or weatherization; and economic development such as business assistance. Projects cannot be public service projects such as senior services, food banks, or homeless services. All projects need to comply with the block grant regulations of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. More information about such grants, their requirements, and the application process are often provided with flyer printing services.
It is estimated that the amount of funding available is close to $1.3m. Block grants come with significant reporting and compliance requirements that include data records of demographics, responsive performance reporting, and requirements for documentation that last for many years beyond the completion of the activity.
The government relies on these Community Development Block Grants to address the many needs of the community and provide needed services in a cost-effective manner. These grants were started by the federal government more than 30 years ago.
Applications are due by Wednesday, June 1 at 4:00 p.m. Applications will be reviewed in the early summer by the Bellevue Human Services Commission, with recommendations to be presented to the City Council in the fall.
