Bellevue museum hosts biennial art exhibit

The Bellevue Arts Museum recently opened the fifth edition of its Biennial with an exploration of the medium of glass. The Biennial is designed to focus on a new process, theme, or technique in craft, design, and art every year.

There is a range of work in this year’s glass exhibit, from the sound objects created by Anna Mlasowsky that was developed for and worn by the military, to the Carol Milne’s 80 glass tiles knitted together that reach the ceiling of the museum. There are many other ideas and approaches to glass that were developed by artists who work primarily in other media, as well as new artists to the Bellevue art scene.

There will be two cash prizes of $5,000 each awarded during the exhibit. The curators of the museum will give the John and Joyce Price Award of Excellence to an artist who will have the chance for a solo exhibit at the museum. The general public will be able to vote for the winner of the Samuel and Patricia Smith Peoples' Choice Award. Nominations for this award need to be submitted by Sunday, March 31, 2019 and the winner will be announced on the following Friday.

Organizers of this sort of event often use flyer printing to draw attention to such exhibits, awards, and the opportunity to select winning artists.
