Bellevue looks to redesign and build its grand connection

The Grand Connection Crossing over Interstate 405 will be redesigned by the city of Bellevue.

This redesign will facilitate the movement of bikers, pedestrians, and rollerbladers from downtown Bellevue to the neighborhood of Wilburton and the Eastrail.

This project is the next step in the development of the Grand Connection program in the city. This program will offer 1.5 miles of public spaces that will be interconnected and will enable them to shop, eat, gather, relax, and enjoy themselves. The starting point is Meydenbauer Bay Park and then continues through the downtown across Interstate 405 to the Eastrail. The Eastrail is being developed as a multiple use trail for an uninterrupted 42 miles from Renton to Snohomish.

More details about such projects and their benefits for a city are often provided with flyer printing.

The city has a survey which provides more information about the project and enables those who work, live, and play in Bellevue to provide their feedback. The survey needs to be completed by Monday, March 18.

The city is planning to ensure that the design work will be completed this year so that potential impacts to the surrounding environment and costs can be determined. The city is also working on securing funding for the project. It is expected that the crossing will open by the end of 2028.
