Since 2023, she has been the deputy city attorney and has had various roles in the city for close to 10 years. Tanus became a legal advisor for the Development Services Department in 2016 and has been a code and policy director and consulting attorney for Development Services. Before working for the city, she was an associate attorney with the law firm Johns Monroe Mitsunaga Kolouskova. Following an open recruitment process, Tanus was picked as the leading candidate.
