What's Happening in Auburn, WA…

Classic 70s rock band comes to Auburn

One of rock’s best bands is coming to Auburn.

Cheap Trick was formed in 1973 in Rockford, Illinois, with Robin Zander, Tom Petersson, Rick Nielsen, and Bun E. Carlos as the founding members. Their work included elements of guitar pop from the 1960s, hard rock of the 1970s, and punk rock. This blend helped them become one of the most influential power pop bands.

In 1977, the band released their debut album, “Cheap Trick,” as well as “In Color.” Their third effort, “Heaven Tonight” included the classic “Surrender,” but major success still eluded them. They broke through with 1979’s “At Budokan,” their first live album, which was certified Triple Platinum, and included the hit track “I Want You to Want Me.” The next album was “Dream Police,” their most commercially successful effort, climbing to No. 6 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

During the 1980s, the band changed its lineup several times, and saw its popularity start to diminish. However, fans “rediscovered” them in 1988 when they released “Lap of Luxury,” their “comeback.” Tracks on the album included their first No. 1 hit, “The Flame,” as well as three other songs that charted.

A review says:

“. . . Cheap Trick successfully dazzled people’s minds with their performance . . .”

Posters, which are available at print shops, are often used to advertise events like the upcoming concert. Cheap Trick will be at the Muckleshoot Casino Events Center in Auburn on February 21.
