Several organizations in Auburn are joining together to host a popular event.
The Auburn Downtown Merchants Association, the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities (Pebble Hill), the Auburn Arts Association, the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, and the City of Auburn itself are hosting the upcoming SummerNight Art Walk.
The walk takes place throughout the city’s downtown, transforming it into an arts district in its own right. Pieces by regional and local artists will be part of the experience, and street performers, live musicians, children’s activities, and food will add to the fun.
The Art Walk is held for two purposes. One is to showcase the community’s numerous talented artists, and the second is to promote downtown Auburn. During the walk, restaurants and merchants throughout the downtown will stay open past regular hours, giving people a chance to dine, shop, and relax as they enjoy the talent on display.
The displays change every year, so the hosts are especially encouraging families to come and introduce children to the colorful world of painting, sculpture, photography, and other arts. In addition, youngsters will have a chance to take part in arts and crafts.
SummerNight is open to people of all ages, and there is no admission charge. The event takes place on Friday, June 6, from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. Organizers of events like this can work with banner printing to create sturdy decorations for use outdoors.
