What's Happening in Auburn, WA…

An event coming up in Auburn will allow people to enjoy the outdoors.

The Almost 5K Poker Fun Run, Walk or Stroll will be held in person, and is ideal for participants of every skill level, and every age. It’s named for the fact that runners need to make five laps around the large loop at the park, a distance that is “almost” five kilometers but is in fact short by 1,138 feet. Each time a runner completes one loop, they stop and pick a card. The idea is to try and build the best poker hand with the cards drawn, which is why it’s a poker run.

Strollers are allowed on the course, but children not in strollers will be considered paying participants. The top eight poker hands will win awards which will be announced the next week via social media and email. When they plan events like this, organizers could use banner printing to create fun decorations for the venue.

The 5K Poker Run will take place at Les Gove Park, which is located at 910 9th Street SE, on August 14, and the course will be open from 6.30 pm until 8.30 pm. Runners can save by registering by July 16 for $20; from July 17-August 12, the fee is $25; on race day the fee is $30. Those who register early will receive a participation medal and a T-shirt, and runners must send payment with their registration.
