Auburn prepares for special veterans celebration

An important day of remembrance is coming up, and Auburn plans to celebrate with a wide range of activities.

The Veterans Day National Committee, along with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, have selected Auburn to be a Regional Site for the 2026 Celebration of Veterans Day, which includes the Veterans Day Parade. Over the years since the first parade in 1965, the Auburn event has become one of the biggest in the country.

The aim of the celebration is to honor military personnel, active, reserve, retired, and veterans, and acknowledge their service in a positive way. Recognition focuses on the military and military reserves, those Veteran Service Organizations and their auxiliaries recognized by Congress, the ROTC, and the National Guard.

The highlight of the day is the parade, which usually comprises more than 150 units and approximately 4,000 participants, including veterans’ units, military vehicles, marching bands, and more. The parade begins at 11.00 am.

In addition to the parade, the day’s events include a Community Breakfast, from 7.00 am until 9.00 pm, at the Auburn Senior Activity Center; a Remembrance Ceremony and Lighting of the Flame from 9.45 am until 10.15 am at Veterans Memorial Park; Open House at the VFW, from 12.00 pm until 5.00 pm; and a Lions Veterans Luncheon at 1.30 pm, held at Merrill Gardens of Auburn.

The Veterans Day celebrations take place on November 7. When they plan outdoor events like this, organizers can work with banner printing to create appropriate decorations.
