Country star to appear in Auburn

A Grammy-nominated country artist will be coming to Auburn soon.

Josh Turner is bringing his This Country Music Thing Tour to Auburn in support of his album “This Country Music Thing,” which dropped in 2024.

Joshua Otis Turner, who goes by Josh, has been recording on the MCA Nashville Records label since 2003. That was the year “Little Black Train,” the title track from his debut album of the same name, became a breakout single. His second album, 2006’s “Your Man,” produced two No. 1 hits, “Would You Go with Me” and “Your Man,” the first time he hit the top spot.

His 2007 album “Everything Is Fine” included the song “Firecracker,” which climbed to No. 2, while the album “Haywire,” which dropped in 2010, produced his most successful effort to date, the single “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” which hit the No. 1 spot and stayed there for four weeks. “Heatin’ Things Up” was released as the first single from the “This Country Music Thing” album.

His career includes some acting, as well as numerous awards and nominations. Turner’s voice has been described as an “unmistakable, buttery baritone” (he has classical vocal training), and a review says:

“The artist is the best thing to hit the country scene since Johnny Cash.”

Turner will be at the Muckleshoot Events Center at Muckleshoot Casino on August 21. Events like this are often advertised with Posters, which organizers can source from Print shops.
