Heavy metal/country star coming to Auburn
An artist whose career in heavy metal led to a fresh start in the country genre is coming to Auburn.
Aaron Lewis was born in Vermont and raised in various New England States. He is best known as a founding member, rhythm guitarist, and lead vocalist of Staind, an alternative metal band. The band released seven studio albums with Lewis before he left in 2010 to go solo. He switched genres to country music, and dropped “Town Line,” his debut EP, in 2011. The following year he released the full-length solo effort “The Road.” His change over to country is not unprecedented; Kid Rock, with whom he sometimes tours.
Staind’s biggest hit was its album “Break the Cycle,” which it released in 2001. In the United States, the album went 5X Platinum, and “It’s Been Awhile,” the lead single, made it into the Top Five on the Billboard Hot 100 list. In 2006, Hit Parader placed Lewis in the number 49 spot on their “Top 100 Heavy Metal Vocalists” list. His most recent album is “The Hill,” which he dropped in 2024. A review says:
