An upcoming race will benefit people with a serious condition.
The 2026 HACA Factor Dash 5k & Walk is now on the schedule and will be held at Lake Accotink Park, where participants will enjoy a scenic course on the park’s trails. The event is open to walkers and people with strollers are also welcome. An option to participate in a virtual run is also available. The course is a paved, flat, out-and-back route that should be easy and fast.
The race is a fundraiser for the Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (HACA), a nonprofit organization dedicated to support adults, families, and children with bleeding disorders. HACA uses awareness programs, education, and advocacy to connect people with supportive relationships and critical resources. Participating in the race allows people to make a difference in the lives of others.
Participating runners will receive an event shirt, a finisher’s ribbon, and a chip-timed event, as the points earned here will count toward other series. Walkers receive an event shirt and a finisher’s ribbon.
The race is scheduled for May 16, with the 5K starting at 9.00 am. This race is timed but the one-mile event, which starts at 9.30 am, is not. The fee for the 5K is $30, and the one-mile is $10, until April 30, then increase by $5. Events like this frequently see organizers use banner printing to create course markers.
