A popular vocalist will appear soon in Springfield, playing both her original material and classic hits.
Cathy DiToro is taking part in the Thursday Night Live series of events held at Vim & Victor, a bistro in The St. James Hotel. The powerhouse vocalist is based in DC and will be performing an acoustic set in Springfield.
DiToro calls herself a “nostalgia addict” and performs popular hits from the 1990s and 2000s. Audiences may know her as the frontwoman of the 1980s group “The Legwarmers,” and the tribute band “That’s So Fetch,” which formed in the 2000s.
In addition to her music, DiToro has a strong desire to help people, boosted by her work as a high school counselor in 2012-2013. She realized she could not do both music and counseling simultaneously, so rather than giving up one pursuit, she merged them, establishing “The Hera Project.”
The endeavor is named for Hera, the queen of the Greek gods, and shows DiToro’s love of Greek mythology, as well as acknowledging women’s power generally. The project hosted music festivals that celebrated women of all ages and held open mic sessions where they could display their passion and talent.
Cathy DiToto will give audiences a Throwback Thursday on Thursday, February 5 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Organizers of shows like this can benefit them by using poster printing methods to create colorful advertisements supporting the performances.
