Virginia band plans to party in Springfield

A Virginia-based band is planning a party in Springfield and inviting everyone.

The Skinny Wallace Holiday Party will take place at Pete's Tavern in Springfield. The group features both female and male vocalists and plays a mix of covers with some original songs in the set, They have been performing throughout the region since 2016, and have been building a loyal following. Depending on the gig, they can offer either a six-piece group or an acoustic show featuring three pieces.

Marisa Reilly founded Skinny Wallace along with lead guitarist/vocalist Danny Gibbs. They first met in 2008 when they were in the same group. When the group disbanded, the two went on to create a partnership, writing and singing together while they looked for other musicians to form a new band.

Paula Young, who plays mandolin, flute, and rhythm guitar, joined them in 2012. They filled out the lineup with miscellaneous artists, and then took a great leap forward in 2015, when Scott Shinn, a veteran drummer, and bassist/guitarist George Lanum helped the lineup solidify. In 2017, Karen Chae, a vocalist and keyboardist, completed the group.

There have been several lineup changes, but the group has continued to perform and is looking forward to expanding their success beyond Northern Virginia. A review says simply:

“It is always a great show!”
