Intelligence event to be held in Springfield

Intelligence professionals will meet in Springfield soon to network, learn about professional development, and challenges to the intelligence community.

The 42nd Annual AFCEA Spring Intelligence Symposium will include keynote speeches from intelligence professionals, conversations about both the low-tech and advanced threat informed research and development, the digital transformation occurring in the Department of Defense, and implications for partnerships between academia, industry, and government. Participants at the symposium will gain a better perspective on the latest intelligence needs, and how private and public sectors can work together to mitigate risk.

The agenda lists several presentations that will be followed by panel discussions with experts from the intelligence community, the military, and the technology sector. One subject to be discussed is key features of the “CJADC2 data strategy,” an acronym that stands for “Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control.” CJADC2 is a mechanism to connect “sensors to shooters” in future battles, with the “combined” indicating an emphasis on international cooperation.

Some very impressive names are shown on the list of attendees. This includes Dr. Stacey Dixon, the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence; Dr. Peter Highnam, the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Critical Technologies; and Mr. Mac Townsend, the Chief Data Officer of the Defense Intelligence Agency. Senior Pentagon officials and executives from technology companies will also be attending.

The intelligence symposium is March 19-20, at the NGA Campus East in Springfield. Networking is built into events like this, giving attendees a chance to exchange Business Cards.
