Virginias best festival just a month away

Art on the Avenue is returning to Alexandria this October. The event, which attracts over 50,000 visitors each year, was voted the best art festival in Virginia in 2012 by readers of Virginia Living.

There are expected to be more than 300 fine artists and crafters participating in this year's festival who will be selling a variety of items, including everything from wooden puzzles to pottery. Four stages will be presenting musical acts such as Quintango, Word of Mouth, and the Irish Breakfast Band. The Alexandria Citizen's Band will also be celebrating its 100th anniversary at the Bandstand.

Among the activities everyone can take part in at the festival are the ‘make your own scarecrow’ booth and the pie-baking contest, which has both adult and children's categories. Food vendors will also be present throughout the event.

Of course, the festival also offers activities for the children. Some of those planned include tambourine making, face painting, and making people out of yarn.

Most events such as this one advertise with the use of Flyers or Posters, which can always be provided by Alexandria Print companies.

Art on the Avenue is taking place on Mount Vernon Avenue from Bellefonte to Hume Streets on October 4 from 10:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Admission is free of charge. Call 703-683-3100 to find out more about the festival.
