Alexandria revelers will be donning their lederhosen and dirndls and heading to this year's Alexandria Oktoberfest 2025, which is coming to John Carlyle Square in late September.
The free seven-hour family-friendly event will present traditional authentic Bavarian dance and live German music, polkas, and singalongs.
More than 30 local artisans will be displaying and selling handmade items such as Oktoberfest-themed souvenirs, pottery, and woodwork. A beer garden will offer seasonal craft brews and curated German beers. Food vendors will be selling pretzels, bratwurst, schnitzel, and apple strudel, along with modern treats, gluten-free, and vegetarian options.
Contests will include a beer stein holding challenge and a Mr. and Mrs. Oktoberfest costume contest. Other activities will be games, photo opportunities, and face painting.
Families that pose for pictures in their traditional costumes at cultural events like this often take the photos to Print shops to add to family Calendars and newsletters.
Rain or shine, Alexandria Oktoberfest at John Carlyle Square will take place from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 27.
Continuing the fun, the Alexandria Bier Garden at 710 King Street will be celebrating Octoberfest from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm that day with food, beer, music, and entertainment. Admission will be $31, which will include access to four venues, drink wristbands, and free access to the after-party after the crawl.
Nearby garages will be available for paid parking, and DASH and Metro stations are nearby.
