Alexandria will be commemorating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a memorial program, river clean-up and music gathering.
The 53rd Anniversary Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program reception will begin at 5:30 pm and the program will begin at 6:30 pm. Guests will be treated to food, music and a discussion of Dr. King's life and message.
This year's Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program will take place Thursday, January 15th at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial, 101 Callahan Drive.
Potomac Conservancy for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service will be a volunteer project to remove trash from the Potomac River. Volunteers will be limited to fifty.
MLK Day of Service, Potomac River Cleanup, will be on Saturday, January 17th at Jones Point Park beginning at 9:00 am.
On Monday, January 19th, MLK Day, Music is Medicine for Mental Wellness, Heart, Mind, and Soul will be a community gathering that will be discussing how music strengthens mental well-being. Attendees will be treated to live performances, a community sound healing experience, and mental wellness insights from researchers, advocates and therapists in honoring Dr. King's Legacy.
