As part of the Virginia Festival of the Book, Alexandria Festival of the Book will be taking place in mid-March.
Sponsored by St. Paul's Episcopal Church Alexandria and Virginia Humanities, Portraying America 1776 - 2026 will be a one-day celebration of our nation's literary achievement and rich history. Authors and their readers will explore American arts, history, literature, and architecture.
The opening welcome and remarks will begin at 10:00 am, followed Session #1 from 10:15 am to 11:30 am (George Washington and his Legacies) and Session #2 from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm (Perspective: Lens on the Revolutionary War Period). The afternoon sessions will begin at 1:00 pm with Session #3 (America's Gilded Age) until 2:00 pm and ending with Session #4 (America's Jazz Age and Forward) from 2:15 pm to 3:30 pm.
One noted speaker will be Dr. Barbara D. Boehm, author of The Colmar Treasure: A Medieval Jewish Legacy. Speakers at events such as this usually bring Business Cards for those who want to get in contact with them at a later date. Although the event will be free, preregistration for each session is advised.
Portraying America 1776-2026 will take place on Saturday, March 14 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2287 S Pitt Street.
