The historic Old Town Alexandria waterfront warehouse will soon be converted into a southern restaurant and market.
Robinson Landing developer EYA, LLC, is selling the building at 10 Duke Street to Bonitt Builders, specifically Murray Bonitt. Bonitt renovated The Majestic and Virtue Feed and Grain warehouse. He hopes to make the space somewhere residents want to spend time several nights each week.
The 6,400-square-foot development will be called The Mill and will incorporate Robinson Landing, a mixed-use property with a luxurious restaurant, bistro, and possible dining on the pier care of Alexandria Restaurant Partners. There will be two floors consisting of a restaurant for casual dining and a food market with coffee, beer, wine, pastries, and premade food. Old Town residents in the southeast area can fill out a survey expressing their desires of what the market will supply.
Although plans are not yet concrete, the probable concept of the restaurant will be southern and bold comfort foods. Charleston Food and Wine Festival founder Rick Jerue suggested the idea and possible professionals with interest in Alexandria. Jerue is also the Charleston mayor's chief of staff.
The Mill will reflect the waterfront warehouse. It is set to open in fall of next year. Restaurants hire professionals that specialize in graphic design to create Menus that are easy to read and reflect the dining atmosphere.
