The 1st Rootstock festival is taking place this June in Alexandria.
The event is expected to attract approximately 4,000 visitors. It will feature 100 craft beers, cider and wine sampling and food samples from 30 area restaurants, including 15 farm to table restaurants. There will also be musical entertainment, a pie eating contest and a cake walk. The Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture will be sponsoring some farm-related activities for the entire family.
There are still spaces for vendors; fees are $250 for craft food providers and $400 for a farm to table restaurant where the cooking is done onsite. Vendors must supply samples of their foods. There is also still a call for volunteers to help make sure the festival runs smoothly.
This event will be a good opportunity for lesser-known restaurants in Alexandria to make themselves known in the community. Many of the participants may decide to order services like sign and banner printing to make their booths look more attractive to passers-by.
Rootstock will be held at Oronoco Bay Park on June 6 from 12:00 - 6:00 PM. Tickets are $10 for those aged 12 and over, $30 with 25 tasting tickets and $50 for VIP; VIP ticket holders are admitted an hour earlier. To find out more about the festival, visit the official website.
