The 13th annual Alexandria King Street Art Festival is taking place next month over two days in the Old Town.
This is a juried festival and there are expected to be more than 200 artisans on hand to showcase and sell their work. Prices are likely to range from $25 up to $50,000. Visitors are also eligible to win an art Print valued at $2,800.
There will be artist-led, interactive art activities with the Alexandria Art Experience. In past years, offerings have included T-shirt printing. Another aspect of the festival is the Ice Cream Bowl fundraiser, which provides support for The Art League and the Torpedo Factory Art Center. People purchase a ceramic bowl filled with ice cream for $15. Last year, more than 1,500 bowls were sold.
This event will allow the public to meet the artists and watch demonstrations of the artistic process, and for the artists involved to possibly develop a customer base.
