Festival celebrates Irish culture in Alexandria

The Irish Festival is taking place this August in Alexandria. It is a presentation of the Ballyshaners and helps to raise funds for the city's annual St. Patrick's Day parade.

The festival will be the place to be to enjoy musical performances, watch displays by local dance schools, and purchase traditional Irish foods and beverages. Several pipe bands will also be in attendance for what will be a family-friendly celebration that introduces many in the community to some of the aspects of Irish culture.

Vendors will be selling during the festival as wekk. Visitors can look forward to purchasing Irish-inspired products, as well as handmade and original arts and crafts. Arts and craft items will likely include Celtic-themed jewelry, pottery, ceramics, paintings, and even clothing.

Vendor spaces are 10 x 10 feet and cost $225 each. It is up to the vendors to supply tents, tables and chairs. Many of them will likely be investing in services such as sign and banner printing from Alexandria Print companies. This will attract more attention from festival attendees and may result in an increase in sales.

The Irish Festival is being held at Waterfront Park on August 9 from 11:00 am - 7:00 pm. Admission is free. To find out more about the event, or to become a vendor, contact J. J. Kelly at 703-475-9415.
