Nominees are needed for an awards ceremony that highlights all the contributions volunteers make to the city each year.
‘Volunteers are the Heart of Alexandria’ is an annual event that has taken place in Alexandria for over 20 years. Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to submit nominations for those that have made an impact on the community through their charitable efforts. There are multiple categories including youth awards, emergency preparedness, and others. The ceremony also gives attention and accolades to all adult community members donating 150 hours or more to the community and junior residents that contribute at least 100 hours a year.
Businesses can contact the organization to find out how to get their employees involved in volunteer projects or create their own efforts, perhaps by selling Promotional Products to raise funds for local charities or break out some Banners or Flyers to draw attention to local causes. They should also have the date noted on company Calendars.
This year's award event will take place on October 19. The event will be held at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office at 600 Dulany St. in Alexandria from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
