Alexandria to celebrate cars and fashion

The Alexandria Old Town Festival of Speed and Style is coming back to the waterfront area in just over a month’s time.

This is the second year of the festival, where thousands of people from the area, from families to auto professionals, attended the first festival last year.

Attendees will have three blocks of cars to view close to the waterfront along King Street while they patronize local businesses and street vendors, and listen to live music. There is no charge to attend the daylong festivities. Banner printing can mark the blocks where a festival begins and ends.

Over 100 elite cars and classic motorcycles from international owners will feature, many of which are powerful vehicles dating back to 1950. The boutique district in Old Town will host a spring fashion display that will reflect one of the styles of the showcased vehicles.

Burke and Herbert Bank will sponsor the festival at the highest level this year. This is Virginia's oldest and the district area's longest operating bank, with 25 Northern Virginia locations and local headquarters.

The Baltimore Washington area United Service Organization and ALIVE! will benefit from the money raised from the event. ALIVE! is based in Alexandria and provides supplies and services for families in need in the area.

This event will take place on September 6, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The fashion showcase is from noon to 1:00 pm. Those who want to showcase their cars can go to the website to learn more.
