Alexandria showcases historic area homes

The 85th annual Historic Garden Week is coming up, and will include tours of five of Old Town’s finest homes.

The Garden Club of Alexandria and The Hunting Creek Garden Club are co-sponsoring this year’s event in Alexandria, while additional tours will take place throughout the state of Virginia during the event.

Alexandria’s Old Town tour includes admission to two restoration projects underway by the Garden Club of Virginia, a visit to the garden of Mount Vernon and Green Spring Gardens, as well as five other historic properties in the Old Town section of the city.

The members of the sponsoring clubs have created flower arrangements that will be on display at the homes visited during the tour. Historic Garden Week tours include visits into the homes and through the gardens of the most exquisite properties in the area. Anyone seeking beautiful photos for their own Business Cards or poster printing will find plenty of inspiration in these extensive and carefully tended gardens.

The tour will take place from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on April 21. Ticket holders can visit each of the locations listed in the guide at any time during the tour. A complete description of the properties included in the event, as well as parking information and other services in the area, can be found at the event website. Advance tickets are $45 per person in advance, $55 per person on the day of the event, and $25 per person for admission to a single location.
