Alexandria residents gear up for a safari adventure

This 22nd Annual Art Safari is taking place in just a few days

Parents and children are invited to an art event with activities planned that are suitable for kids aged approximately 5-11. The projects are hands-on activities that are designed to help kids express their creativity. A variety of media are involved, including fiber, papier-mâché, and clay. Parents are welcome to join in on the fun and some activities may require them to assist younger children.

Since art has been shown to build the self-esteem of children and make the most of their active imaginations, parents can help to build their child's confidence by working with them on complex projects and then proudly displaying the result in Holiday Cards or Calendars.

The Torpedo Art Center has organized and hosted this event for over two decades. Each year, hundreds of parents and children attend and many are sharing their past experiences on social media. The projects are designed to appeal to younger children, but children of all ages are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

The safari takes place this Saturday, October 21, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM at the Torpedo Art Factory at 105 North Union Street. There is no admission fee to attend, and more information about the day can be found on the website.
