Tyler science center plans special Valentines event

The Center for Earth and Space Science Education at Tyler Junior College (TJC) featuring the Hudnall Planetarium will be hosting “Love Under the Stars” this month to celebrate the Valentine’s season.

Such unique and special events can be promoted throughout a campus and the community with poster printing methods.

Director of the Science Center, Dr. Beau Hartweg, says that the show this year will feature love stories about the stars, and their mythology. Hartweg added that the show will also cover the constellations that can be seen in the night sky, along with a virtual tour of the solar system to places that were inspired by love.

The price of tickets is $95 per couple, and includes dinner for two prepared by those in the Culinary Arts program at TJC. Also included in the price are beverages, a telescopic viewing outdoors (weather permitting), a commemorative photograph, and a gift basket. Tickets are available only for those 21 years of age and older. Couples, however, only need to purchase one ticket between them.

The Center for Earth and Space Science Education is home to the first nano-seam domed theater that is 40-feet wide in East Texas. The Planetarium uses state-of-the-art technology and features a full-dome immersive experience, with the latest in digital projection technology.

“Love Under the Stars” will take place on Friday, February 9 and Saturday, February 10.
