Those who are nominated to receive this award are evaluated rigorously by peer faculty, students, and external reviewers. The criteria for evaluation include the quality of their curricula, their expertise in the classroom, innovative teaching methods, and student learning outcomes.

Dr. Tvinnereim will be officially recognized with her award by the UT Board of Regents at a dinner in Austin on August 9, along with 27 members of the faculty from the 14 academic and health institutions of the University of Texas.
