Tyler planetarium features seasonal shows

Hudnall Planetarium at Tyler Junior College Centre for Earth and Space Science will be presenting dome shows with a winter or holiday theme through the end of the month.

Flyer printing is often used to promote such shows with days and hours of operation and ticket prices.

“Mountain Adventure: Out of Bounds” is the story of Torah Bright and her journey through the chain of mountain ranges from Antarctica to Alaska. In her travels, she meets Sammy Carlson, a star of free-skiing, and Jeremy Jones, a backcountry legend, and the trio meet polar bears, penguins, and other wildlife, as well as environmentalists and scientists, in their quest to better understand the ecosystem of the mountains.

In the “Mystery of the Christmas Star,” viewers will go back to Bethlehem over 2000 years ago in an attempt to get a scientific explanation of the star which, according to the Bible, led the wise men to the baby Jesus. “Extreme Auroras” was created by Ole Salomonsen, an award-winning photographer who traveled through Sweden, Finland, and Norway to film the light show of the aurora borealis, or Northern Lights. Salomonsen captures the entire sky, which is then projected on the full dome of the theater.

Finally, “Season of Light” tells the story of several cultural and historical religious rituals that are practiced at the time of the winter solstice, as well as many seasonal traditions.
