Four students from Tyler Junior College (TJC) will be performing at the annual convention of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) next month in San Antonio.
Such honors are often made known throughout a college community with poster printing services.
The convention enables music programs, such as orchestra, choir, and band, from elementary grade levels to college to meet. Typically, each year about 30,000 people and 10,000 active music educators attend the conference each year from across the country.
Director of choral music at TJC, Dr. Eric Posada, expressed how thrilled he was that four students will be representing the college in the all-state choir. This convention is one of the most prominent conventions for music education in the country and the students will have a tremendous experience in being able to perform there.
Associate professor of conducting and director of choral activities at the University of Michigan, Dr. Eugene Rogers, will be conducting the choir. Dr. Rogers has been a winner of the Michigan Emmy Award twice, a nominee for a Grammy Award in 2015, and the choirs he conducts have toured throughout the United States, South Africa, and China.
The students will rehearse with the entire choir for three days to learn seven musical selections and then perform in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center on Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 pm.
