The University of Texas Health Northeast, which include the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, has recently merged with Ardent Health Services of Nashville.
UT Health East Texas will be the name of the new system and it will become a profit making entity, as is Ardent Services. It will now consist of 10 hospitals, 13 facilities for rehabilitation, two new emergency rooms, health services for the home in over 40 counties, and over 50 physicians practices.
The CEO of UT Health East Texas will be Moody Chisholm, reporting to the CEO of Ardent Health Services, David Vandewater. Chisolm said there will not be any major cuts in staffing with the elimination of only a small proportion of the thousands of jobs at the existing health system as the two entities work together to restructure their approach to healthcare. He added that the goal will be to try to find other opportunities in the system for those whose jobs might be eliminated.
Vandewater added that in future years, as the new UT Health East Texas system develops, more patients will decide to use these healthcare services in East Texas, rather than traveling to Dallas, thereby creating more opportunities for employment.
Banner printing companies can be hired to create displays in the community so that people learn more about such merges and the resulting benefits.
