The Academy of Dance at Tyler Junior College (TJC) will be presenting “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” this month.
The production will be on KLTV and is directed by Shurrell Wiebe, Dance Professor and Pre-Professional Program Director at TJC. It was specially created for television.
Wiebe expressed his excitement about being able to perform this dance in the new Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center. He added that it is also exciting to be able to bring this production to the community through the medium of television, and to be able to highlight the dance program of the TJC Academy of Dance and the TJC Cultural Arts District.
Director of the TJC Academy of Dance, Carolyn Hanna, added that it is a treat to be able to present this work to a broad audience. Hanna said the dancers have been working on this production since January of last year and are thrilled to present it to all those who are enthusiastic about dance. Often, such colleges work with local printing services to create flyer and other materials to inform the community of special productions.
Among the performers will be alumni from TJC who are professional actors and dancers, guest artists, students from the TJC Academy of Dance, and dance department dancers.
It will air on May 9, 15, and 16 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
