Special award given to Tyler college research director

The Texas Association for Institutional Research (TAIR) has presented David Brown, director of institutional research and analysis at Tyler Junior College (TJC), with the TAIR Outstanding Service Award for 2025.

This award is given to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions to evaluation, planning, research, and policy analysis in higher education in Texas. This award has been given for 47 years, and Brown is the 23rd recipient of the award.

Announcements of such honors are made known throughout a college community with poster printing.

TJC administrative officer of records, reporting and research, Britt Sabota, said that Brown’s expertise, education, and consistent commitment to advancing research in an institution has been of major significance for TJC and the state as whole. Sabota added that Brown’s service and leadership exemplify values that are held at TJC, and everyone is proud that he is part of the team at the college.

Brown has had many positions serving TAIR. He was vice president in 2020 and president in 2021 and professional development officer in 2015 and 2016. He joined TJC in November 2022. Before that he was vice chancellor of research and reporting at North Central Texas College.

Brown expressed his gratitude and honor for this recognition from his peers across the state and his joy at being able to serve a college that improves professional skills in the field of data research.
