A great deal of commercial development will be going on in the southern part of the city of Tyler this year.
The president and CEO of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, Tom Mullins, said that this part of the city is where the growth patterns are, so it follows that people making investments would be more interested in such areas.
Matt Wilson, the developer of The Village at Cumberland Park, says it had 350,000 square feet of commercial and retail space when it started in 2014 and this has now grown to 650,000 square feet of retail space. An additional 60,000 square feet of retail space is planned with a full-line Nike store and an Urban Air adventure park to fill part of that space.
South of the Village, the Gander Mountain building will be taken over by a new company that plans to open it as Gander Outdoors. Next to the new Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital - South Tyler that opened last year will be a branch of American State Bank.
Mullins added that the Chamber is working to also bring manufacturing facilities and other large companies to parts of the city, which in turn will create jobs and increase demand for housing and retail.
Banner printing companies can be hired to make citywide displays so that people can learn more about such projects and plans for the city.
