The Hudnall Planetarium at the Earth and Space Science Center of Tyler Junior College (TJC) is featuring new dome shows this month, and there will be an option to reserve the planetarium for a private showing.

One of the new shows in on photons and is narrated by Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, a well-known astrophysicist. The show uses both two- and three-dimensional hemispheric videos and animations to explore the journey of a photon through the human eye and how it is converted to an electrochemical impulse which eventually becomes the image which is seen by the brain.
Director of the TJC science center, Dr. Beau Hartweg, said that this show will amaze audiences. Dr. Hartweg added that the technology is such that it has enabled the ability to prevent a variety of diseases that affect sight and restore vision. This show can be seen daily throughout the summer at 1:30 pm.
Other shows at the Planetarium include a Children’s Show at 11:00 am, “Space Park 360” at 12:15 pm, “The Hot and Energetic Universe” at 2:45 pm, and “The Sun, Our Living Star” at 4:00 pm. A private viewing of any show from the library at the center can be arranged at 9:45 am on Tuesdays through Fridays. Up to 15 people can attend the viewing for a flat fee of $25.
