New leadership roles announced at college in Tyler

New leaders have been appointed at Tyler Junior College (TJC) in its law enforcement academy and division of public affairs and media relations.

Announcements of such appointments are often made known throughout the community with poster printing.

The new director of the TJC Law Enforcement Academy is Rudolph Rendon. He most recently held a similar position at Temple College. Rendon has been a Texas Peace Office for 40 years, of which 20 years were served as a chief of police for several school districts in Texas, as well as at St. Edward’s University in Austin.

Rendon said that, as a police officer who cares about those whom he serves as well as how he provides that service, and that he is committed to providing the best training in law enforcement for police officers at TJC. Vice president of academic and student affairs and Provost at TJC, Dr. Deana Sheppard, said that the students in the law enforcement academy will greatly benefit from the experience of Rendon and being in his classes.

The new director of public affairs and media relations is Whitney Mayfield. She will be the primary contact for media inquiries, coordinate requests for interviews and media events, and develop the external communications strategy for TJC. Mayfield expressed her excitement about joining TJC and being able to tell people’s stories and share their good news.
