The Apache Band and Apache Belles of Tyler Junior College (TJC) will be celebrating the holiday season and their 75th anniversary with their inaugural Christmas Extravaganza.
Jeremy Strickland, Director of Bands at TJC, said this show will be like the Boston Pops meeting the Radio City Rockettes. He said there will be costumes, live music, singalongs, dancing, cookies, and special guests, among many other treats. He added that this show will be a lot of fun for both the audience and the performers as they try to make this a new tradition for the community. Such new events are often promoted throughout a college campus and the community with poster printing.
The Apache Belles are a precision dance group and have been performing since 1947. Known for their pyrotechnics and eye-popping color, they have performed at many games of the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Oilers, and The Texas Rangers, as well as two Super Bowls. The Wind Ensemble is the main concert and instrumental ensemble in the department of music at TJC.
The Christmas Extravaganza will be on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10. It begins at 7:30 pm on both nights in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center in the Wise Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for those six years of age and older, and free for children under five.
