Dr. Deana Sheppard will become the new provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Tyler Junior College (TJC) beginning next month.

Dr. Sheppard’s most recent position is vice president of instruction at Lone Star College-CyFair and oversees six academic divisions. During her time at Lone Star, she has been in several leadership roles, including dean and executive director, vice president of college centers, and interim president.
Her teaching experience includes computer science and business courses at the high school and community college levels. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Sam Houston State University and is currently an adjunct faculty at Lone Star College-CyFair. Her passion is to ensure the success of students and to invest a positive culture in the college environment.
Dr. Juan E. Mejia, president of TJC, expressed his pleasure in having Dr. Sheppard join the college in this important position. She has a great deal of experience and knowledge in higher education, from which Dr. Mejia believes the college will benefit.
Dr. Sheppard added that she is looking forward to serving TJC in her new role as she has admired the college for many years, given its outstanding reputation among community colleges.
