New agreement on pathways at Tyler college

Tyler Junior College (TJC) and Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) have signed an articulation agreement that will increase the number of pathways offered between the two institutions. This will facilitate the pursuit of higher education for those in East Texas.

TJC and SFA already have a long-standing partnership that enables students from TJC to transfer to SFA in the areas of human development, psychology, biochemistry, and family studies, among others and will add the fields of physics, geology, biology, and education. More information about such agreements and their details for students is often provided with brochure printing.

Dr. Scott Gordon, president of SFA, said that this will provide a seamless pathway to a four-year degree and will enable those in East Texas, and indeed the entire state, to benefit from the increased opportunities. He added that this will provide more areas in which students can complete a baccalaureate degree, which in turn will provide more high-quality employees with those credentials for businesses throughout Texas.

Dr. Deana Sheppard, Provost at TJC, expressed her pleasure in partnering with SFA, noting it will provide an opportunity for students to expand their education in many areas. She added that the programs at both SFA and TJC will provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to serve those in their fields of study.
