National placements in cheerleading for Tyler college

Tyler Junior College (TJC) took first place in the College Nationals Competition of the National Cheerleaders Association in the Intermediate Large Coed Junior College Division.

TJC also was the junior college team with the higest score in the intermediate division and the second higest of all junior colleges in the entire competition.

Announcements of such accomplishments are often made known throughout a college campus with poster printing.

Cheer head coach at TJC, Tammy Rose, said the team spent an entire year preparing for their routine which lasted only two minutes and 15 seconds. She added that the team started working on this last summer at Southern Methodist University at the NCA college camp, She said it was there that the team was able to attend the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Nationals.

Rose said that throughout the fall the team planned five performances so they would get accustomed to performing in front of large crowds. She said once they returned from the break at Christmas, they practiced daily, had extra practice on Monday evenings, and gave up spring break to practice all day. They also cheered at all men’s and women’s basketball games at TJC and held appearances off campus.

Founded in 1948, the NCA has a vision to create an environment that cultivates the whole cheerleader and holds events that reward the hard-working, well-rounded cheerleaders in America today.
