The Arts Fest will be held at Tyler Junior College (TJC) for the ninth year throughout the month of April.
The event is a collaboration among the Tyler Museum of Art, International Day, The Bell Tower Arts Journal, and several departments in the college, including theater, music, dance, and art.
There will be exhibits, performances, guest speakers, and more at various locations and times across the campus and at the Tyler Museum of Art. Although some performances require tickets, the public is welcome to attend all events.
An important aspect of the festival is the involvement of students such that a competition is held among them to create the Logo Design for the Arts Fest. Jaclyn Walker, a sophomore and a simulation and game development major, was the winner of this year’s contest.
There will be a Lunch on the Lawn concert series, which will be held each Wednesday at noon in front of the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center. Music groups from TJC will include a harmony vocal jazz and steel pan ensemble on April 12, jazz ensembles on April 19, and Touch of Gold and Drumline on April 26.
Other events will include the annual International Day, which will be held on Tuesday, April 18. The event will explore customs, food, and music from around the world.
